Award Presentations & Celebrations!

The Weekend Warrior is a 3-day Arctic Fat Bike challenge through some of the coldest, toughest and most beautiful terrain in Canada’s Northwest Territories.

You’ll ride over 300 miles across frozen rivers, remote highways and snow covered wilderness, where the only warmth comes from movement and the only option is forward.

This race is short in days but big in distance, challenge, and exposure. It’s for riders who want to test their winter grit, build experience in Arctic conditions and earn a finish line in a place few ever reach by bike.

Course Details

Start
The adventure begins in Inuvik, a vibrant Arctic town perched above the treeline. After final checks and briefing, the race heads out, not into sunshine and scenery, but into cold air, open land and serious distance.
Stage 1
You’ll ride south along the Dempster Highway, an undulating and unforgiving stretch carved through the Arctic wilderness. The climb, the wind and the cold all hits from the first mile. After a long day in the saddle, Fort McPherson offers shelter, warmth, and a much needed overnight reset.
Stage 2
An early start takes you north along the frozen Peel River. It’s colder here, famously so but it’s also wide, quiet and starkly beautiful, with the Richardson Mountains rising in the distance. As night falls, you'll reach Aklavik, arriving beneath Arctic stars and, if conditions allow, a sky lit with Northern Lights.
Stage 3
The final push. Another early start. You follow frozen rivers and forest-lined paths toward Inuvik. As you pass ice-locked Coast Guard vessels, you’ll know the finish isn’t far. The final miles are raw, silent and satisfying. Back in Inuvik, you'll earn your place among Arctic finishers.

Camps & Check Points

Each stage finishes at an organised ‘camping’ area utilising local school halls along the route. You will be responsible for carrying your own sleep system consisting of a suitable sleeping bag and thermal ground pad. Hot water will be provided for cooking at all checkpoints.

Cut off times will be briefed each day and may vary slightly due to changing conditions or any route adjustments that need to be made for safety reasons. These will be based on competitors moving at an average of 6-7mph / 10-11kmph in order to safely complete the entire route and make it to each check point.

You will have 1 x additional drop bag that will be made available to you at each camp, this should contain any additional clothing you wish to bring with you as well as additional food for the remainder of the event.
