The award was created to honour the race founders and long time directors Martin and Sue Like, without whose brilliance, left field thinking and determination the race would not exist. With Martin and Sue retiring, this felt like the right time to launch the award. It is an award, chosen by the crew each year for the one athlete who they feel best reflects the origins and ethos of the 6633 Arctic UItra and the spirit demonstrated by Martin and Sue.

Each winner will have their names engraved on a Yukon Moose rack to be kept and displayed in the Yukon for all time!

2024 inaugural recipient

Founders Pick

With the introduction of the Like Award and with Martin and Sue retiring from the 6633 we offered them the opportunity to pick their Like Award winners from the previous editions of the 6633.

Nate Dirvin

USA
Classic Edition 380 Mile Race 2023

"An absolute pleasure to have on the race. Barely knew he was there throughout, just quietly and without fuss got the job done."

Cedric Mallet

France
Yukon Edition 250 Miles 2023

"A very quiet man who hid a steely determination beneath. No bother throughout - just simply did it."

Rio Crystal

Canada
Yukon Edition 250 Miles 2022

"An outstanding performance for such a young man, to come out and take on a serious challenge like the 6633, with very little prior experience and to execute so wonderfully the win that he wanted, its one of the best (if not the best) performance I have seen. I doff my cap in this man's general direction!"

Steve Jackson

Canada
Classic Edition 380 Miles 2020

"Pulling the heaviest sled by quite some margin in the whole history of the 6633, yet never once moaning or complaining in fact quite the contrary, was always smiling and happy whilst suffering immeasurably. Another absolute pleasure to have on the race and a heroic performance."

Hayley Robinson

UK
Classic Edition 380 Miles 2019

"A cracking team that was forged on trail, each pushing each other throughout. Great to watch their epic down moments and to witness their highlight of crossing the line together, in time to see Wales off in the 6 nations."

Mark Whittle

UK
Classic Edition 380 Miles 2019

"A cracking team that was forged on the trail, each pushing each other throughout. Great to watch their epic down moments and to witness their highlight of crossing the line together, in time to see Wales kick off in the 6 nations."

Tony Ellis

UK
Classic Edition 380 Miles 2018

"If ever there was a person who replicates the outsiders perceived image of the race, then Tony is this man. Having the wrong clothing systems, to being on the Sat Phone to work throughout, to failing to press the Help button, to going from last to 2nd in the last 40 miles - this is our man!!"

Roddy Riddle

UK
Classic 350 Edition 2017

"A ballsy athlete if ever there was one. A type 1 diabetic who defies what limits are achievable. Came back after his DNF in 2016 to "finish unfinished business" and did it with aplomb. Its this type of performance that impresses us so much".

Poh Joo Toh

Singapore
Classic 350 Edition2016

"A returning athlete who was an absolute delight to have on the race. Always smiling although was suffering big time underneath. Came in 2nd, but simply the finish was his ambition. Another wonderful performance from a great friend of the 6633."

Natalie Taylor

UK
Classic Edition 350 Miles 2015

"Like many names before on this list, impressed us by her no fuss, no drama attitude, just simply smashed it, plain and simple".

Kevin Hollings

UK
Classic 120 Edition 2013

"For sheer determination and breaking the 120 mile record, it's hard to see beyond Kev's performance. He basically went balls out for the finish line from 40+ miles out, and set a record that I think is going to be hard to beat."

Tony Kelly

UK
Classic 350 Edition 2011

"If you cut Tony in half, he would have 6633 running right through the middle. A massive massive challenge for this big man from Wales, but he soaked up all he could pre race. He then executed his race to neigh on perfection, and whilst he didn’t finish, he did go the 2nd furthest distance."

Chris Todd

UK
Classic Edition 350 Miles 2010

"What an athlete and what a wonderful person through and through. He is the only person to ever compete in the 6633 without any support from the organisers at any point - completely self sufficient. And he is he only athlete who I believe would have challenged Mini's record had he not decided to wait for multiple hours for his mate. Another absolute gent."

Andrew Murray

UK
Classic 120 Edition 2009

"Probably the most laid back competitor to ever grace the start line of the 6633, but this hid a very steely determination to win. An absolute gent in every way and even went on to medic the 3550 after his race."

Sarah Lowell

UK
Classic 120 Edition 2008

"Another example of simply getting on with it. Was in complete control of her race from beginning to end... and for her it finished her Grand Span of 4 winter races that season."

Steve Evans

UK
Classic 350 Edition 2007

"In what was probably the toughest conditions the 6633 has experienced, he very simple got on with the job in hand - no drama."
