A Landscape of Contrasts
The route showcases Fiji’s incredible diversity. You’ll traverse exposed grasslands, dense tropical rainforests, climb ridges offering sweeping ocean
views, and cross rolling hills dotted with traditional villages.
Each day brings new terrain - from technical trails and river crossings to coastal paths and sandy stretches - making this a true test of stamina and spirit.
Perfect September Conditions
September is one of the best times to experience Fiji. The weather is warm but comfortable, with daytime temperatures averaging 24–28°C and low humidity compared to the wet season.
Expect mostly dry conditions with plenty of sunshine, occasional cooling breezes, and the chance of a light shower to keep the trails fresh and vibrant - the ideal climate for long-distance running in the tropics.
Course Details
Stage 1 - To Naseiyani Village
35km | Elevation: 450m
Setting off from the tropical mangrove stands on the North coast of Fiji’s largest island, Viti Levu, you’ll soon leave the world you know behind. Your route takes you below the sacred Nakauvadra ridge and under the watchful gaze of Degei, the Snake God. Dirt tracks become horse tracks and you’ll encounter your first serious climb, before dropping down into the green valleys of Yaqara cattle ranch and Checkpoint 1 near Naseiyani village.
Stage 2 - To Savulelele Waterfall
40km | Elevation: 600m
Your second day takes you further into the heart of Fiji and begins with a tough climb to drop you into the Wainibuka river valley, where you’ll follow dirt roads along riverbanks and across the undulating terrain to your finish beneath the dramatic Savulelele waterfall and Checkpoint 2.
Stage 3 - To Naga Village
42km | Elevation: 1000m
From the off you’ll enter the dense tropical forest that blankets the hills around Fiji’s highest mountain, Mt Tomaniivi. The first half of this stage is a tough steady climb through the trees following pig-hunting trails and old logging tracks, and criss-crossing streams, before you break out into the open and the cooler air on the Nadrau Plateau. Gravel tracks lead you to Checkpoint 3 and the overnight camp in Naga village.
Stage 4 - To Tavuni Hill Fort
100km | Elevation: 1000m
This day brings your longest stage and begins with a steep descent to the Sigatoka river, Fiji’s longest, and a steep climb back up to the opposite ridgeline and the feeling that you’re standing on the roof of Fiji with views in all directions. As you follow the ridge you pass through the centre of the island - the mighty Pacific is nowhere to be seen. Dropping from the Nadrau Plateau you rejoin the Sigatoka River crossing to its eastern bank finishing the day at the historic Tavuni Hillfort, where Tongan forces kept watch in days gone by.
Stage 5 - The Finish Line!
35km | Elevation: 350m
Passing through Sigatoka town at first light will leave you feeling disoriented after the long days in the interior. Don’t worry, you’ll quickly head back up into the hills with sweeping views of the reef-fringed south coast, now almost within touching distance. You’ll descend to the coast and join old sugar train tracks which lead you, at last, to the sand and the finish line in the gently lapping waters of the South Pacific. Job done.
Camps & Check Points
Each stage finishes at an organised camping area. We will have a central tent or building for communal gathering. You will pitch your own tent for sleeping in, and hot water will be provided for cooking at all checkpoints.
Some of the camps and checkpoints will be hosted by remote communities and we’ll provide information and briefings to ensure we are culturally respectful throughout the event.
Cut off times will be briefed each day and may vary slightly due to changing conditions or any route adjustments that need to be made for safety reasons. These will be based on competitors moving at an average of 3mph / 5kmph in order to safely complete the entire route and make it to each check point.
You will have 1 x additional drop bag that will be made available to you at each camp, this should contain any additional clothing you wish to bring with you as well as additional food for the remainder of the event.
